Frui celebrates Fall of the Wall’s 20th Anniversary with launch of 'Berlin Art Amble'
Imagine an entirely unusual holiday which combines late night ping-pong, an abandoned theme park, ballroom dancing and a behind-the-scenes look at Berlin’s buzzing art scene. This is the weird and wonderful new break being offered by creative holiday specialist, Frui, to mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Frui’s ‘Berlin Art Amble’ provides an off-the-wall peek into this vibrant city, whilst absorbing the rush and hum of one of Europe's finest capitals. Offering a truly unique mix of activities, this one-of-a-kind break is a totally new kind of art holiday that thrusts guests right to the creative heart of the city. It eschews the usual ‘city break’ itinerary, focusing instead on the unknown Berlin, visiting off-the-beaten-track galleries, artist studios and special events.
The Berlin Art Amble is on 17-20 June 2010 and is aimed at the art and photography lover who wants to enjoy a bizarre alternative to the ‘run of the mill’ city break.
Highlights of the four-day/three-night holiday include:
• Luxury accommodation in the heart of Berlin’s Mitte district, now famous for its trendy cafes, restaurants and contemporary art galleries
• Head away from the crowds for exclusive artwork viewings on the Niederkirchnerstrasse stretch of the Berlin Wall – see original examples of artwork from when East and West Berlin was divided
• Explore the local trends, styles and themes on a gallery tour of the several different districts of Berlin’s art scene
• Visit the impressive Treptow Park, now home to an abandoned theme park – a truly unique place to take photographs
• Experience a real Bavarian feast at one of Mitte’s best restaurants, Schwarzwaldstubun, followed by ballroom dancing in a 1930s dancehall, Clarchens Ballhaus
• Get to know the local artists on an informal studio visit - a unique opportunity to see and discuss work in a more relaxed and informal environment
• Hop on your bike and explore some of Berlin’s more unusual districts, finishing up at the arts space RADIALSYSTEM V, for a further taste of the city’s art scene
• Sample the cultural hot spot area of Prenzlauer Berg, the stomping ground of young, up and coming Berlin artists and creatives
• Bargain-hunt at Berlin’s best Sunday morning flea market, where you can find all sorts of German nic-nacs, past present and future
Frui co-founder Henry Carroll says “Berlin is such an exciting destination right now as it’s a hive of creativity. Art, fashion, music, theatre… it’s on the cutting edge of it all. Our itinerary uncovers the avant-garde heart of this city and will allow guests to unleash their creativity in this melting pot of fresh talent.
“Alternative cultural experiences are at the heart of all our holidays and the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall has spurred us on to put together this quirky little break. Berlin is full of off-the-wall, crazy stuff and this short break is all about getting well and truly stuck in!”
The cost of this four-day/three-night holiday is £649, which includes half-board accommodation, all transfers, photography tuition, and local guides throughout. Flights are not included.

Notes to editors:
Frui challenges the ‘fuddy-duddy’ perception of creative holidays by offering contemporary, youthful tuition and a superior standard of service and accommodation. The brand launched earlier this year with a range of photography, gastronomy and contemporary painting holidays to Istria (Croatia), Istanbul (Turkey), Abruzzo (Italy) Marrakech (Africa) and most recently, Syria.
Flights:
Flights are not included as Berlin’s Schoenefeld airport is served by a number of airlines from the UK. Guests can therefore source their own flights or ask Frui to assist with this at the time of booking.
