CEDR Solve enhances client choice in mediation services

  • Thursday, 05 October 2006

CEDR Solve, Europe’s biggest mediation service provider, part of the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution, announces two new services - Direct and Express.

CEDR Solve has always offered clients a choice of mediators from its highly qualified panel to best fit their dispute and this service, now termed Select, is still available to everyone. In addition CEDR Solve will now take requests to book specific mediators and provide an express service for parties that have agreed mediation and want CEDR to choose a quality mediator.

Until today CEDR Solve’s mediation service (Select) focused on a comprehensive service based on mediator recommendations, from its panel of 130 accredited mediators, with full case management. By recognising the changes in demand from mediation users and their differing needs in a maturing marketplace, CEDR Solve has expanded its service to ensure maximum choice in its services.

Following a successful pilot of an appointment-only option, CEDR Solve Express, provides a discounted, streamlined service for cases where parties have agreed date and venue for the mediation, know the duration of the mediation and want the swift appointment of a suitable mediator rather than going through a selection process. These mediators will be appointed from the full CEDR Solve panel.

The CEDR Solve Direct service enables requested appointments to be booked for a small number of specific mediators. These are members of the panel where it is sensible for CEDR Solve to make appointments directly in their diaries. Most of these mediators are either members of CEDR staff or part of its training faculty and perform most of their mediations with CEDR Solve.

All these services will operate side by side, although in responding to customer demand there will be a difference in cost to the mediation parties, as the Select service will involve more liaison with parties and different mediators over dates and locations for mediations.

Karl Mackie, Chief Executive of CEDR, commented on the new services: “Our reputation as the leading mediation services provider has largely been achieved through our ability to access a diverse and experienced mediator panel. Feedback has repeatedly shown that offering mediator recommendations is the service valued by our clients and one that will not be diluted by the introduction of the new services. However, as the pre-eminent provider of mediations in Europe it would be wrong for us not to respond to the growing call of users to have fast-track mediations and book certain mediators directly, all without sacrificing quality.”
