Venomous Spider to Enter UK Homes

the first snow bringing thousands of venomous false widow spiders into homes represents something more serious than a shiver up the spine.

• 55% of women and 18% of men experience a fear of spiders
• Arctic conditions across the UK set to bring thousands of venomous spiders into our homes
• The Spider Courage Experience recently helped arachnophobes conquer their fear at Chessington World of Adventures

For the estimated 12 million UK adults who suffer from a fear of spiders, the threat of the first snow bringing thousands of venomous false widow spiders into homes represents something more serious than a shiver up the spine. While many may not like the thought of a spider crawling up their arm, for those with arachnophobia this thought alone can cause reactions from mild anxiety to full panic attacks. Arachnophobia is one of the most popular phobias, however, it’s also not evenly split, with 55% of women and 18% of men experiencing a feat of spiders to some extent.

There is help on hand as The Spider Courage Experience has a 4-hour course hosted in London or Chessington World of Adventures. The arachnophobes arrive with a fear of spiders and leave with the fear either disappeared or massively reduced to the extent that they can hold a live tarantula.

Run by founder and spider educator Britain Stelly and Harley Street hypnotherapist Adam Cox, The Spider Courage Experience takes place from 1pm to 5pm on selected Saturdays and offer a range of different therapeutic techniques such as, NLP, CBT, hypnotherapy and education, which gives participants tools to build confidence in all areas of life beyond just the fear of spiders.

Florence, who attended the most recent workshop exclaimed “The thought of a spider gave me shivers and terrified me. Now I’ve held a tarantula. Not only have I held it, I wanted to keep holding it!”

Another attendee, Abbey, said “Four hours ago I would never have thought I would’ve held a spider. I don’t know why I suffered in fear and didn’t do this sooner.”

Adam Cox, the hypnotherapist for The Spider Courage Experience explained how different therapeutic techniques can help those with arachnophobia conquer their fear before the inevitable increase in spiders, set to come with the first snowfall. “Winter and particularly snow encourages more spiders inside the house. The Spider Courage course uses the very latest techniques in hypnotherapy and NLP to change the neural pathways meaning that the sight of a spider doesn’t automatically cause a fear response. Arachnophobes don’t need to suffer this winter!”.

Although we are well into spider season, arachnophobes no longer have to let spiders be the thing they fear. Even for those unable to attend the courses in London or Chessington World of Adventures Creature Courage is offering a free hypnosis download on their site to help get through the rest of the tricky time.
