New Statesman has appointed Jon Bernstein as deputy editor.

He will join on 12 November, succeeding Emily Mann, who will continue at the magazine part-time while she completes her PhD in art history.

Bernstein has previously worked as multimedia editor for Channel 4 News and Channel 4 Fact Check. In the 1990s he worked on magazines for VNU Business Publications.
