Freelance journalist Eugene Costello had emergency open-heart surgery in August, which led to him being on life support for ten days. Now in recovery, he is undertaking a charity fundraising trip along with colleague Nick Redmayne, driving a 4X4 from the UK to Mali, West Africa. It’s a journey of 4,100 miles and will take around four weeks. Funds raised will be split between the British Heart Foundation, NUJ Extra, and the Journalists’ Charity. More information can be found here, and Eugene and Nick can be contacted for features via email@example.com.
