Richard Butt has been appointed as editor of the Isle of Man Courier, Isle of Man Examiner and Manx Independent.

Butt will leave his position as editor and reporter at Channel M in Manchester and take control of the papers, and their website iomtoday.co.im, from Monday.

He began his journalistic career on the island before moving to the Manchester Metro News where he was editor.

Isle of Man Newspapers previous editor, John Sherrocks, has moved to France.
