Journalist & PR Agency join to launch Fitness Writers’ Association

A members-only group has been launched for fitness writers.

The Fitness Writers Association held its inaugural event on Wednesday 18 July at Dolphin Square Fitness Club in Pimlico, where around 30 professional fitness journalists enjoyed an evening of networking and a series of Olympic inspired talks by fitness industry professionals. Special guests included model and fitness writer Nell McAndrew and the CEO of Fitness Industry Association (FIA), David Stalker, whose organisation will be official partner of the Fitness Writers Association.

The Association has been set up by Fiona Bugler, a journalist and editor with over 20 years’ experience and Action PR, a specialist fitness PR agency. The Fitness Writers’ Association, which will hold networking events for writers throughout the year, aims to connect fitness journalists and bring them closer to the rest of the fitness industry.

The Association is also offering memberships for media fitness experts that want to take the next step towards fitness journalism and there will be an education programme to support their professional development as writers. There will also be a limited number of memberships available for fitness PR agencies and journalism students that want to move into the fitness sector.

The next Fitness Writers’ Event will take place on Wednesday 17 October and will welcome guest speaker Sally Gunnell. Email for more information about attending and becoming a member, or visit the Facebook page.
