Modern Farmer Media to launch consumer farming title
Modern Farmer Media is to launch Modern Farmer, a quarterly farming title aimed at people who want to know the provenance of the food they eat.
The title will give readers information on food production, knowledge about the safety of the food they consume, and its environmental sustainability and ethical sourcing. It will also give guidance on growing your own food and provide the latest news and product information on a range of contemporary farming topics.
The first issue, on sale on 4 July, will have articles about the rise of organic farming in China, the growth of the global wild boar populations, an in-depth piece on the state of humane slaughter around the world, and a feature on the effects of monsoon season on India’s farmers. It will also include the workings of the seed economy and how the Malawi mango trade is tied in with the popularity of McDonald’s smoothies. The first of the magazine’s regular ‘how to’ features cover growing the ingredients to make a cocktail, building a backyard farm and starting a seed bank.
More information on Modern Farmer will be available on FeaturesExec shortly.
