Moose Partnership help save Cheese Rolling
Gloucester-based Marketing and PR Agency Moose Partnership has been given the task of helping to save the centuries-old Cotswold tradition of Cheese Rolling from extinction.
The cheese roll involves a series of races on Spring Bank Holiday afternoon, in which competitors chase a rolling cheese down the precipitous slope of Coopers Hill, near Gloucester.
The event was the victim of its own popularity in 2009 when 15,000 spectators turned up in 2009 to a venue equipped to hold only 5,000, resulting in the cancellation of last year’s event due to fears over crowd safety.
The Cheese Rolling Committee has appointed Moose Marketing and PR to launch a ‘Save the Cheese Roll’ campaign and raise sponsorship for a ticketed, two day festival in June. The Cheese Rolling Festival website can be seen here: www.thecheeserollingfestival.co.uk/
They have also called in Cheltenham based Events and Management Services to organize the new-look event.
