Trinity Mirror to merge North East websites

Trinity Mirror is set to merge the websites for The Journal (Newcastle) and The Chronicle (Newcastle).

From 13 July thejournal.co.uk will exist only as an archive site, with visitors being redirected to chroniclelive.co.uk where they will be able to view content from both publications.

The combined site will include news, sport, business and entertainment content. Additionally, it will include a business channel courtesy of The Journal’s business team.

The website will cover regions from the Scottish border to Teesside, through Northumberland, Tyneside, Sunderland and Durham.
