B2B arm of WPR lands Travis Perkins account

Travis Perkins plc, the UK’s largest supplier to the building and construction industry, has appointed Midlands based digital and traditional agency WPR to provide trade public relations support.

WPR's B2B team has initially been tasked with providing a press office function for seven brands in the company’s portfolio including Travis Perkins, Keyline, City Plumbing Supplies and Sustainable Building Solutions (SBS), as well as raising awareness of its hire service.  The agency will also be expected to deliver a number of major projects over the coming year.

The company, which has a network of over 1800 locations across the UK, acquired WPR’s longstanding clients BSS Industrial, PTS and F & P Wholesale in 2010.

Linda Doughty, Trade Marketing Director commented, “Having followed the activity of WPR clients in the trade press, we knew we would be working with a team of dedicated professionals who know our industry and the issues that affect us inside and out.  We have many exciting projects coming up and we’re looking forward to a proactive response by the specialist B2B team at WPR.”

The account will be headed up by WPR’s head of B2B, Tom Leatherbarrow, who said; “Travis Perkins is a dream client for us and was a natural fit to compliment the other brands the team currently works with.  There are so many fantastic activities and industry topics to get stuck into – we’re looking forward to making our mark in trade and regional press.”
