The Independent, The Independent on Sunday and London Evening Standard are to merge their business and sports desks.

Sean O’Grady, the deputy managing editor, at The Independent said of the merger, ‘The intention is that each title would retain its distinctiveness in design and copy, but simply that we can make better use of our journalistic resources across the papers.’
