Chris Blackhurst appointed editor of The Independent
Simon Kelner today steps down as editor of the Independent and i to be replaced by Chris Blackhurst.
Kelner, who has been with the newspaper for 13 years, will remain as editor-in-chief but will have no day-to day involvement with the papers.
Blackhurst, who joins The Independent from his role as city editor and columnist at the London Evening Standard, was previously deputy editor of The Independent, Independent on Sunday and Daily Express. Prior to that he was Westminster correspondent of The Independent for four years and also a member of The Sunday Times Insight investigations team.
