Future has appointed Daniel Benson as managing editor of cycling website, cyclingnews.com.

Benson joins the site from NatMag Rodale, where he was managing editor of the Runners’ World website.

A keen rider and experienced bike journalist, Benson has written on cycling and covered major races such as the Tour de France for publications including Cycling Weekly, Cycling Sport and the Bikemagic.com website.

Cyclingnews was launched in 1995 and acquired by Future in July 2007 for £2.2m.

The site provides results and commentary, covering road, mountain, track, cross and BMX racing.

Benson said: “Editing the world’s leading cycling website was too good an opportunity to miss, bringing together my passion for cycling and my background in web journalism. I’m looking forward to working with this incredibly experienced team, building on the success of the site, developing its excellent reputation in the industry, and working with a loyal, growing audience.”
