Fabulous, the News of the World’s free weekend magazine, has appointed a new editor and editorial director.

Joely Carey has been promoted to editorial director having previously worked as deputy editor for the magazine. Rachel Richardson has been appointed editor and was formerly digital editor of the News of the World. She replaces Sally Eyden in this role. Richardson has also previously worked on Fabulous as associate and executive editor.

Richardson and Carey will start in their new roles in mid-February.

The editor of the News of the World, Colin Myler, said of the appointments “This is the dream team for Fabulous. Joely has the strategic vision, experience and ideas to ensure the title maximises its full editorial and commercial potential. Rachel will bring enormous energy, skill and creativity. Together, I’m sure they will build on Sally’s brilliant work and drive the title to even greater heights.”
