Elsevier pronounces Doctor and Hospital Doctor as terminal

Sutton-based Elsevier Healthcare is to close weekly medical titles Doctor and Hospital Doctor.

Sister title Update is to be renamed and revamped, while Practice Nurse is being moved to the Oxford office.

No dates have been set for the changes; the result of a review of Elsevier’s business and title portfolio, which concluded limited opportunities in the UK physician print magazine market.

Doctor is a weekly newspaper for general practitioners, with separate editions for Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland.

Hospital Doctor, is also a weekly newspaper, providing medical news, views, information and education for the hospital market.

Update is a monthly magazine for GPs covering all major clinical areas, while Practice Nurse is a fortnightly journal aimed at nurses in GP surgeries.
