Evening Standard relaunches

The London Evening Standard was relaunched on Monday with nearly 650,000 free copies distributed to residents of the capital.

The much publicised relaunch was called “fresh, modern and forward-looking” by new editor, Geordie Greig. Monday’s relaunch saw the announcement of several new sections and writers for the daily paper.

New sections include Trends on Mondays, which will “record the latest ideas, crazes and conversations”, and Film & Music on Fridays. As well as this, new columnists will feature including Sam Leith.

The novelist Andrew O’Hagan has been named as film critic at the paper and Henry Hitchings as theatre critic. They replace Derek Malcolm and Nicholas de Jongh respectively, although Derek Malcolm will still contribute.
