As the FT’s defence industries correspondent, Pfeifer will be covering aerospace and defence and will also focus on British Airways, Rolls Royce and major overseas defence contractors.

The Sunday Telegraph columnist Niall Ferguson has also been hired by the FT.

Ferguson, who specialised in the history of finance, has been appointed contributing editor at the FT.
