The Hartlepool Mail has appointed Paul Watson as news editor.

Watson previously worked for the Press Association and replaces Peter McCusker, who has joined The Journal in Newcastle as assistant business editor.

The Hartlepool Mail covers Hartlepool, Billingham, Peterlee and East Durham and has a circulation of 18606.

The Journal is published daily from Monday to Saturday by NCJ Media and has a circulation of 36,856.
