Imagine Publishing has announced the launch of Photography for Beginners, a magazine and iPad app aimed at new photographers.

The title will be released in print and as an iPad app on 30 June 2011. It offers teaching, tips and advice to aspiring photographers through, for example, projects that readers can follow along with at home.

Debbi Allen, editor in chief of Digital Camera Essentials and Digital Photographer, will be editor in chief of the new title.

A tutorial based website – www.photographyforbeginners.com – will launch alongside the magazine. The website is incorporated with a range of social networking sites, including Twitter and Flikr, enabling readers to share photos with a community of like-minded people.

This title replaces current Imagine title Digital Camera Essentials. The first issue will cost £3.99 and have a print run of 40,000.
