The MJ (Municipal Journal)'s editorial director Michael Burton has written a book called 'The Politics of Public Sector Reform From Thatcher to the Coalition', which will be published by Palgrave Macmillan this week, coinciding with the Spending Review on Wednesday.

Burton provides the first comprehensive ‘bird’s eye’ account of public sector reform, supported by studies from over 400 official sources, in an attempt to answer the question of how the public sector can radically transform and adapt to the new era while avoiding the mistakes of previous reform programmes.
