Northumberland County Council hire Karol to get social

Public relations firm Karol Marketing has been appointed by Northumberland County Council in a bid to reach and communicate with its residents through social media platforms.

Karol Marketing will advise on the use of a number of social media tools including weblogs, Twitter and Facebook, helping the council to integrate these platforms with existing channels and facilitating two-way communication.

Stefan Lepkowski, managing director at Karol Marketing said: “The challenge lies in creating a manageable strategy where the council is both able to communicate proactively about the things it is planning to do as well as respond to any issues that arise.”

Residents of Northumberland can find regular updates on news and events in the county via the council’s Facebook ( or twitter ( pages where they can also uploads photos, ask questions and request information. Locals can also watch videos from the council on its YouTube channel
