Original 106.5 ‘hi-JACKed’ by Oxfordshire station
Bristol radio station Original 106.5 has been rebranded as JACKfm.
Changes were implemented at 6am on 2 December with no prior warning to listeners or the media.
Passion Radio Oxford, owner of Oxfordshire-based stations JACKfm and FM 107.9, gave the Tomahawk-owned Bristol station licensing rights to use the JACKfm name. There are no changes in station ownership.
This follows a request made last month to Ofcom for a format change for the former Original 106.5.
Jack-FM is the on-air brand name of approximately 60 radio stations in the USA and the UK, amongst other countries. It follows a unique ‘Variety Hits’ format, which has a larger playlist than most commercial FM stations.
