Steafel is Daily Mail sole deputy
Jon Steafel has been confirmed as the Daily Mail’s sole deputy editor.
Steafel, joint deputy since 2005, has taken on the role following the retirement of joint deputy editor Alistair Sinclair. In April the paper announced that Sinclair was retiring after 35 years at the paper and 11 years as deputy editor.
The Daily Mail has also appointed Paul Carter and Ted Verity as joint associate editors.
Verity, the Mail on Sunday executive editor, has in the past run the company’s Irish operation.
Carter, once in charge of Daily Mail book serialisations, played a prominent role on the features back bench.
