Chris Styles has been named as the new editor of the Evening Gazette in Teesside.

Styles, a former news editor at the paper and former deputy editor of the Newcastle Evening Chronicle, takes over from Peter Montellier, who has been acting editor since August.

Montellier had been filling the role after Darren Thwaites left to become editor of the Newcastle Evening Chronicle.
