The Courier and Press and Journal go compact

Scottish daily newspapers The Courier, based in Dundee, and the Press and Journal, based in Aberdeen, are switching to a compact format.

From Saturday 21 January, The Courier will adopt a new design with full colour throughout. A new section called View will be included with a daily news feature and an extra comment column.

On Mondays, the agriculture section will be extended to look at farming in more depth, as well as covering issues in the wider agricultural sector and related industries including equestrian matters, diversification, new farming innovation and the wider food industry and country pursuits. Sports content will also be boosted.

On Wednesdays, a new local business section of up to 12 pages will be included. A pull-out property section will appear on Thursdays as well as a What’s On pull-out platform on Fridays. A pull-out leisure and lifestyle section has been designed for Saturdays.

Sister newspaper The Press and Journal turns compact six days a week from tomorrow, 17 January. It already publishes compact editions on Saturdays and Mondays.
