The Sun drops Whip

The Sun has axed its East Anglia office and dropped its Whip political gossip column.

The Whip, a Westminster political gossip column was dropped last week. Its editor, Katherine Bergen, is understood to be leaving the paper.

John Troup, a Sun journalist for 18 years who is based in Essex, is in talks with the paper over his future.

Troup is understood to be leaving the paper after it decided to close down its East Anglia office.

He started his journalism career in Manchester and worked in the Sun’s London office as assistant news editor before moving out to Essex and becoming district reporter in East Anglia about 10 years ago.
