Two Yorkshire newspapers, the Ilkley Gazette and the Wharfedale & Airedale Observer, have merged to form one title.

The Ilkley, Wharfedale & Airedale Gazette & Observer launched last Thursday, 10 February.

Accompanying the newspaper is the newly-named website,

Editor Malcolm Hoddy, who was appointed editor of the two papers and the Keighley News last month, said on the website, “We already know that many people will find it easier to handle and looking inside, there’s a more comprehensive news service from Ilkley, Wharfedale and Aireborough. Along with more news there’s more sport, better coverage of entertainment and the arts, plus all of the regular content and features.”
