Editors named at north-east dailies

John Syzmanski has been named as the next editor of The Sunderland Echo.

Syzmanski has been editor at the Shields Gazette for the past 11 years, and will replace Rob Lawson, who left in October last year after ten years in charge.

Syzmanski's position at the Gazette is to be filled by Hartlepool Mail editor Joy Yates. Yates will comtinue to edit the Mail. Richard Ord, who has been acting editor at the Echo, will revert to his previous role as deputy editor.
