Metro.co.uk revamps

Metro unveiled the revamped version of its website yesterday (5 December).

The main objective of this redesign was to "make the website work in the best possible way whatever the device the reader is using."

The main navigation was also simplified and replaced with five main categories consistent with the print and digital editions: 'News', 'Sport', 'Guilty Pleasures', 'Ents & Tech' and 'Life & Style'.

Martin Ashplant, head of content, said: "We've unashamedly built this from a mobile-first point of view, sure in the knowledge that mobile users are making up an increasing proportion of our visitors – and will soon be in the majority."
