First Scotland editor appointed at BBC News
BBC News has appointed Sarah Smith as Scotland editor, a role created to bring context and greater analysis to big news stories from Scotland. She is expected to start in this role in the New Year.
Smith started her career at BBC Scotland as a graduate production trainee, before going on to work for news outlets including Channel 4 News. She returned to the BBC last year to present Scotland 2014.
