BBC Radio 5 live to celebrate 20th birthday
BBC Radio 5 live will mark 20 years since its launch on Friday 28 March with several special programmes.
The station will begin six days of celebrations on Sunday 23 March with 5 live Drive host Peter Allen, who joined 5 live at launch, fronting a number of programmes on the station. He will join Ian Wright and Kelly Cates to present football phone-in 606, followed by presenting a daily episode of Richard Bacon, Victoria Derbyshire, Shelagh Fogarty and 5 live Breakfast.
Jane Garvey, the first voice to be heard on 5 live when it launched in 1994, will return to the station to co-host 5 live Drive on 28 March.
In addition, an hour-long documentary, '5 live at 20', will "chart the station's major milestones and funniest moments" and will feature archive audio and presenters from past and present.
'5 live Changed My Life' will feature listeners "whose lives have been changed in some way by listening to 5 live" and will be heard online and inserted into on air programming.
Originally broadcast from London, BBC Radio 5 live is now based at MediaCityUK in Salford.
