The Telegraph’s Charles Spencer retires
The Daily Telegraph’s theatre critic Charles Spencer is to retire after over 25 years at the paper.
Spencer joined the newspaper in 1988 as a sub-editor on the arts pages. He was appointed chief theatre critic in 1991 after two years of being deputy theatre critic. He has won the British Press Awards critic of the year twice in his time at the paper.
Prior to joining the Telegraph he worked on the Surrey Advertiser, the London Evening Standard, The Stage and the London Daily News.
