MEN editor departs

Maria McGeoghan is to leave her position as editor of the Manchester Evening News.

Rob Irvine, editor of the North Wales Daily Post, is to take over as editor of the MEN after McGeoghan made her announcement yesterday. McGeoghan was made editor of the paper in 2010 and has been at the paper for the past 14 years.

Irvine, who will also assume a wider editorial responsibility for the Huddersfield Daily Examiner, moves to the MEN after seven years at the Daily Post.

As a result of Irvine's departure, Alison Gow is to become editor of North Wales Daily Post, while her current role as editor of Wales on Sunday goes to Media Wales business development chief, Simon Farrington.
