Mishal Husain joins Today programme

The BBC has added Mishal Husain to the presentation team at BBC Radio 4's flagship Today programme.

Husain will join the news and current affairs presentation team, working with John Humphrys, Jim Naughtie, Sarah Montague, Evan Davis and Justin Webb.

Tony Hall, BBC director-general said: "It is such great news that Mishal will be joining the Today programme… I am also particularly pleased that her appointment means there will be another female voice on the programme, which I believe is extremely important.”

Husain presents BBC News at Ten on Sundays and is the host of the daily Impact programme on BBC World News. She was the BBC's first Washington-based presenter and has worked across numerous BBC news and current affairs programming including Newsnight and BBC Breakfast.

Husain joins the Today programme in the Autumn. She can be found tweeting @MishalHusainBBC.
