RTÉ appoints David Nally as a managing editor
RTÉ has appointed David Nally to the newly created position of managing editor, current affairs, television.
Nally will take up the position immediately, working with the recently-appointed managing director of news and current affairs, Kevin Bakhurst. Together Nally and Bakhurst will choose editors for the Prime Time and The Frontline programmes and appoint an editor to the new multi-media RTÉ Investigative Unit.
With a strong track record of investigative journalism and current affairs experience, Nally joined RTÉ as a reporter in 1994. He trained as a producer/director in 2001 and became executive producer of RTÉ's flagship current affairs programme Prime Time the following year before becoming editor, current affairs with responsibility for Prime Time and Questions and Answers. Under his editorship, Prime Time and Prime Time Investigates won numerous awards for its programming. From 2003 to 2008, Nally was editor current affairs.
