Changes at New Statesman

Jon Bernstein has been promoted to digital director of Progressive Media International, the publisher of the New Statesman. Bernstein will oversee digital strategy for PMI’s stable of publications, which includes the New Statesman, Blueprint and Spear’s.

Helen Lewis has been promoted to deputy editor. She will work across the magazine and web, commissioning print and web content and managing the NewStatesman.com’s roster of bloggers. She will continue to blog about technology, video games, culture and feminism. 

Sophie Elmhirst has been promoted to features editor. As well as looking after the arts pages in the Critics section and writing for the magazine, she will be commissioning long-form features for the magazine, including profiles, essays, reportage and memoir. 

Caroline Crampton will be joining the New Statesman team as web editor early next month. She is currently a staff writer at Total Politics.
