Financial Times has appointed Carola Hoyos as editor of FT Executive Appointments and FT Non-Executive Directors' Club, replacing Peter Whitehead who left the FT at the end of last month.

Hoyos has worked at the Financial Times since 1999, in both New York and London. Her previous roles were as a correspondent covering United Nations, energy and, most recently, defence.

Hoyos will edit the FT Executive Appointments section, writing and commissioning features about job moves and career management topics; and the FT Non-Executive Directors' Club website, responsible for coverage of boardroom issues aimed at both those already in a non-executive role and those aspiring to join a board.

Whitehead, who worked at the FT for 26 years, is now semi-retired and looking for writing and editing projects. He is also recording his second album, the follow up to 2012's 'Lori, Sam and Mary'.

During his time at the Financial Times, Whitehead was FT Special Reports department head, Weekend FT deputy editor and digital business editor before his final role at the newspaper in the recruitment and appointments section.

Whitehead can be found tweeting @peterwhitehead, and Hoyos @carola_hoyos.
