FT appoints Africa and Asia editors

Financial Times has appointed David Pilling as Africa editor. He will also retain his role as assistant editor. For the last four years, Pilling has served as Asia editor at the title.

Beijing bureau chief Jamil Anderlini replaces Pilling as Asia editor. He is also promoted to assistant editor.

Pilling and Anderlini will take up these positions from January 2016 in London and Hong Kong respectively.

These moves come as the FT makes wide-ranging efforts to add depth and breadth to its global newsrooms. These included a series of major hires and moves at its U.S. bureaus.
